Even in <strong>2026<\/strong>, some countries have proposed this ban and are awaiting approval, such as<strong> Portugal&#8217;s parliamentary<\/strong> approval in <strong>October 2025<\/strong>, which is pending the presidential signature. <strong>Italy&#8217;s proposed bill <\/strong>from <strong>October 2025<\/strong> is still under debate, while <strong>Denmark<\/strong> announced on <strong>6 January 2026<\/strong> a proposal to further extend its existing public ban to <strong>schools<\/strong> and <strong>universities<\/strong>.<br><br>This ban has been spreading for a while, with <strong>Syria<\/strong> being the first to do such a ban in <strong>2010<\/strong> for <strong>universities<\/strong>, and their reason was that it&#8217;s a counter to <strong>secular<\/strong> and academic principles (which does not make any sense and seems almost like Western propaganda)<br>Here is a list of countries exercising this ban and their scope:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div None of these reasons fit the motive; for example, this ban is specific to women, while men are allowed to wear whatever they want. Still, women need to comply with the government policies even in dressing, which is <strong>oppression<\/strong> in its purest form, like if a woman is allowed to wear a <strong>bikini in public<\/strong>, then she should also be allowed to wear a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bintezahoorabaya.com\/product-category\/hijab-accessories\/hijab\/\">hijab<\/a>, niqab or an <a href=\"https:\/\/bintezahoorabaya.com\/product-category\/abayas\/\">abaya<\/a><\/strong>. Most of these bans are to promote <strong>secularism<\/strong>, which is a non virtue in<strong> Christianity<\/strong> and <strong>Islam<\/strong>, 2 of the <strong>major religions<\/strong> in the world. Now binding this to religion is to just coy with people as the religion is the problem, or its too extreme while in reality its not. (discussed in depth in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bintezahoorabaya.com\/hijab-an-ideology\/\">The Hijab Ideology<\/a><\/strong>, click here check that out) So, binding this to <strong>secularism<\/strong> is a bit confusing because this is not bound to any religion, and here is where it gets controversial, because now this purely seems to<strong> oppress women<\/strong> on what to wear and what not to wear, and this is the <strong>real gender inequality<\/strong> because there are no such laws for men.<br>Here are some verses from the Quran:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>(Quran 33:59, Surah Al-Ahzab)<\/strong> O Prophet! Ask your <strong>wives<\/strong>, <strong>daughters<\/strong>, and believing <strong>women<\/strong> to draw their cloaks over their<strong> bodies<\/strong>. In this way, they are more likely to be recognized as virtuous and not <strong>harassed<\/strong>. And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As mentioned in the ayah, it says explicitly to cover the <strong>bodies<\/strong>, and the word cloak is used to emphasize covering the <strong>body&#8217;s shape<\/strong> as well as the <strong>skin.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>(Quran 24:31, Surah An-Nur)<\/strong>And tell the believing <strong>women<\/strong> to lower their gaze and guard their <strong>chastity<\/strong>, and not to reveal their <strong>adornments<\/strong> except what <strong>appears typically<\/strong>. Let them draw their veils over their <strong>chests<\/strong>, and not reveal their \u02f9hidden\u02fa adornments except to their <strong>husbands<\/strong>, <strong>their fathers<\/strong>, <strong>their fathers-in-law<\/strong>, <strong>their sons<\/strong>, <strong>their stepsons<\/strong>, <strong>their brothers<\/strong>, <strong>their brothers&#8217; sons or sisters&#8217; sons<\/strong>, their <strong>fellow women<\/strong>, the <strong>female servants<\/strong> they own, <strong>male attendants with no desire<\/strong>, or <strong>children too young<\/strong> to understand women&#8217;s private parts. And let them not stomp their feet, drawing attention to their hidden adornments. Turn to Allah in repentance altogether, O believers, so that you may be successful.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This verse really ties everything together, proving that Islam only says to cover what&#8217;s necessary, such as the <strong>body<\/strong> and the <strong>hair<\/strong>, as these are the <strong>adornments of a female<\/strong>, leaving <strong>face<\/strong> and <strong>hands<\/strong> as what appears typically, and is a necessity. But any woman who prays or prophesies with her\u00a0<strong>head uncovered<\/strong>\u00a0disgraces her head, for it is the same thing as having a\u00a0<strong>shaved head<\/strong>. For if a woman will not cover her head, she should cut off her hair. But if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, she should\u00a0<strong>cover<\/strong>\u00a0her head.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Just as in the <strong>Quran<\/strong>, the <strong>Bible<\/strong> also focuses on <strong>hair<\/strong> rather than the face, since hair is an <strong>adornment<\/strong> of the female body and thus should be covered in public.
